About Alresford
Alresford is similar to its French counterpart in size and origins, being a country town with a population of approximately 4,500. Both towns were established around important mediaeval market centres, although Alresford now owes as much to a number of light industries, businesses and its role as a commuter town as it does to its agricultural origins. Famous for its steam railway and watercress, it boasts many buildings of historical and architectural interest, a thriving town centre with interesting shops, pubs and restaurants and clubs and societies to suit all ages and interests.
